A Serene Landscape

You know that perfect time between summer and fall, when the weather is neither too hot, nor too cold and the view is amazingly picturesque? That’s what I have decided to portray. Using various different crayons, I added shading and depth to my landscape so that when viewer looks at it, they can get absorbed into it. I decided to use crayons, because I wanted to experiment with different mediums and I happened to not have used crayons in a long time. I think that this was the right choice, because crayons blend really easily and using a lot of different hues of one type of colour in an area gives a really nice effect and intriguing texture. This is especially visible in the water, the blues and purples jumping out, but still seeming uniform with each other. This really represents waters true nature – every part is so different, but they all merge together in the end. The technique was also particularly handy when doing the rock, because rocks in real life are usually grainy mixtures of a lot of different colours, so the crayons were able to give a bit of a realistic touch to it. But why did I decide to draw this? I was inspired from a photo I found on the internet. When I saw the image, I wasn’t able to take my mind off of it, and I so desperately wanted to create something on some similar lines, to make it in my own style. I am really proud of the effort I put and how it turned out. When I look at it, I can almost hear the birds chirping and feel the leaves falling on my bare hands. I can imagine being there and just lying in the grass and relaxing. Everything is peaceful. The water shrouded in mist along the side of the land makes me think about what could be hiding beyond my field of vision. I hope this piece inspires you to draw something different as well, something your able to connect with, some place that you wish to be. And I hope you enjoy this delicate landscape, hidden within the depths of nature.
